"Go Mad For Science" Science Fair in conjunction with Austin Regional Science Festival
Participating campus' encourage STRIVE students to participate in hands-on learning experiences.  Science experiments can also significantly contribute to students gaining the 21st century skills they’ll need as they develop into the next generation of business owners, innovators, managers, and employees.  Students placing as a "finalist" in their campus Science Fair may move on to a larger platform at the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival. The Austin Energy Regional Science Festival is one of Texas’ largest regional science fairs with almost 3,000 students from 3rd through 12th grade. It encourages and rewards innovative student research and provides scientists, engineers and other professionals a chance to volunteer in the community.

Explore UT
Explore UT is an open house hosted by The University of Texas at Austin the first Saturday of March each year. Students in grades K-12 and their families take part in science, engineering, arts and cultural activities on the campus from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 350 hands-on activities, films, demonstrations, and exhibits offer explorers a day of learning fun and a first-hand look at research shaping our future. Explore UT is free and there’s no registration. STRIVE students are invited to attend each school year. 

University Interscholastic League
The UIL organizes and properly supervises contests that assist in preparing students for citizenship. It aims to provide healthy, character building, educational activities carried out under rules providing for good sportsmanship and fair play for all participants. Sensible organized competition under proper controls has demonstrated its value and has furnished inspiration to talented students for many years. STRIVE students are strongly encouraged to participate each school year.
